Im 27, an engineer (workin on masters too), very well paid, very single, and moving to a very small town (~4000 people) for an all around better job. I work out a lot, go out sometimes, but my living situation right now is in a city with a large-ish college with a lot of young ass ive been getting up in lately. Frankly, im rolling in it for the first time in my life - beard and the tattoos maybe?

The small town is an hour away from houston, so a fuckton of people. Im told most of the “young” people like me live near houston (about an hour one way commute). Shockingly, no one has told me that they would choose to move to this small town, and that theyd rather spend 10+ hours a week in a mindless commute.

Am i crazy and going to sacrifice my social life outright? Who here has had luck in small towns? Im very driven, and this masters degree (petroleum eng, all online) is about 8-10 hours a week on top of a 40ish hour work week. I like what im doing, but people are making me doubt my drive.

What say you?
