I was reading a threat in r/ TwoXChromosomes (I know, I know) and a lot of women were complaining that male coworkers stop speaking to them, or stop going to lunch with them, when they find that she is in a committed relationship. I find it odd that even lesbians (especially lesbians, for some reason) complain about this, as men simply cut them dry if they find they have no chance with them. Personally, I think this makes perfect sense and those men are being honest and open about what they want or not.
The fact is that a lot of men are not looking for female friends, they don't need or want friends, especially at work. Men who talk and relate to women want sex or dating or a relationship and family. If the woman is on a relationship, she is just not worth a man to stay around. Besides, being a friend of a woman with a bf or husband is a way to find problems. It makes no sense to take that risk.
Being a male friend also implies a lot of responsibilities with usually zero reward, except maybe some status. You are expected to put her first, fix her stuff, carry heavy stuff, help her move, emotional labor, accompany her to car at night, etc. Even at work, and HR can get mad if you don't help a woman, even if it is beyond your job.
A lot of women also see you as second options if the relationships end, and most men don't want to be second options... porn is way more satisfying than that. It is humiliating and dehumanizing.
This gets my wonder if this explains the so-called male loneliness "problem". Maybe it is not as much a problem at all, men simply are choosing loneliness over doing free labor for women. They don't care as much about friendship as women do, especially if it implies non-reciprocated responsibilities, and that is also perfectly valid. Men often have more niche hobbies, their own businesses, investments, etc. so maybe loneliness is not as bad for them after all if you account for that.
(I can share the thread if you want, but I don't know if it is allowed)
TLDR: A lot of women feel awfully entitled to male company, friendship and protection, even without those men getting anything back.

Pretending to be friends with a woman when you just want to sleep with her is the definition of creepy

It's not hard to understand that "staying" with someone you have one-way romantic feelings for or having your sexual interest mismatched with is kind of cheating yourself, (they) shouldn't live in such disbelief about it and let it go instead.

get better friends. sure, carry stuff, drive them if you go somewhere together (fix stuff? what?), but get random stupid gifts, get food cooked for you, cookies baked for you, get invited to more parties than you have to host…why only look at the bad side of having female friends? it really sounds like this person viewed friendship as a stepping stone to something else, which is deceptive.

Men owe women friendship. See, I'm a good feminist!

I think this is what a lot of men think and it explains why a lot of women are becoming more distant from men and are happy to support themselves and stay single. Men’s and women’s interests simply do not align.

How many times are you women going to gloat about your own money in a bank account? like damn

Money = freedom. What is more valuable to an individual than their freedom?

Freedom is only bought by the ridiculously wealthy and vagrants.
Middle class freedom ended as soon as it became mandatory to have 2 incomes to support a household with more than zero kids.

I think all people feel entitled deep inside. Men feel entitled to love from women they consider attractive. Women feel entitled to get boyfriend treatment from their male friends without having any romantic relationships with them (yeah it sounds very transactional, but all human relationships are transactional, let's face it).
In my experience, male-female friendship can be either fun and beneficial for both parties, or unfair and exhausting for one of them. I'm not even talking about friendzone scenario, most men and women just see friendships in different ways.
For women friendship is more about emotional support and deep emotional connection, which most of the men consider exclusive for their SO, that's why many men find it hard to have close female friends or eventually catch feelings for them.
Men generally see friendships as sharing common interests and activities together. If a woman tries to befriend a guy this way, she'll simply turn into "one of the boys" and her feelings will be neglected most of the time.

I’ve had female friends before and it is not a good deal, they do feel entitled to favours and whatnot. In return they don’t do anything

Everyone feels entitled to a certain extent.
