So I’ve been divorced from my ex-wife for about 7 years now. We had 4 children together. And in the divorce decree, it says how much child support is for the kids as each turns 18. 3 years after the divorce my oldest moved in with me. She was 17 at the time. So when that happened her mother and I agreed that I would go down to paying child support for 3 kids. Now my second daughter has just moved in with me. So I’ll be going down to paying for 2 kids.

I didn’t say anything about it to her the first time and I won’t say anything about it this time either. I’m thrilled to pieces that I’m getting my kids back. One at a time or all at once doesn’t bother me.

Now for the question.

Should I be getting child support from my ex for the child that is now living with me while I’m paying child support for the two still living with her? Or maybe a break in the amount I pay? I pay for health insurance as well and she sends me the doctors’ bills when they come and I pay for half the bill.

I know it’s an odd question. Just a bit curious about it. I can’t be the only person to ever be in this situation.
