Hi

I'm coming up to my 10th wedding anniversary in less than a month. We had problems pre pandemic, where I would routinely have to get baby sitting help on the weekends when I worked because she didn't want to be burdened with child care. We would fight that because she wanted to live closer to her family in NYC and not living there was almost akin to living in a rural USA (we live in a very large city). Always fight over money, have dealt with it with working more as I can...

Since pandemic, she's lost 30-40 lbs. Hasn't really left the house since March 2020. Her one time where she was out of the home, it was because she was hospitalized with a severe lung infection. She's cancelled all of her onsite doctor visits even when they want her to visit in person for other testing. Everything is done remotely. Groceries are me picking it up or delivery.

I do all social activities with the children, school drop off and home work, meals, etc. People asking my family if I'm divorced already since no one has seen her. Its been a fight to get her to help in the morning because I work till 1-2 am now. Her involvement with homework is just quizzing on spelling tests.

Live in Texas. I last spoke to a lawyer about 2 years ago. Had a better idea of how things would play out before 10 years of marriage. But hitting 10th anniversary, which means that alimony laws change here (though she runs her business now and has some inheritance money that is more than our combined assets).

Unsure how her mental/emotional state plays into things now. Was close to hitting the eject button right before she ended up in the hospital. She seemed to be more responsive to changing afterwards, but has fallen into old habits. Her family has been hesistant to travel to visit us because of the pandemic and undergoing treatment for stage IV cancer. She's refused to travel (I offered to put her up in NYC for several weeks to quarantine). While her family knows she's has issues, not sure they are aware of it (or don't want to deal with it).

She has started some medication for depression, but can't say I've seen a big difference after 2 months (took a year for me to convince her she needs it, after several of her physicians offered it before that).

Not sure how alimony works, if I continue to pick up extra work? Her mental state, etc.

Sure I need to consult with a lawyer again.
