Hello everyone, currently going through divorce proceedings. I still live with my wife as I am a stay at home dad, she also makes more than double what I do (I have passive income from a pension, about 45k/year). Considering going back into the workforce soon for a non-time intensive job so I can get my own place and not stress finances because where I live (Hawaii) a 2Bd is $3.5k+ a month. Daycare would also cost $1k+ a month... My spouse put in her initial filing that she wants joint legal and physical custody of our 2 yr old daughter. In my response I have the opportunity to ask the court for relief and annotate which part of the divorce complaint I disagree with. Now for a long-winded question:

Given that I am a stay at home dad, and that my spouse works 50+ hours a week, I believe its reasonable to request more than 50/50 physical custody, as it is more representative of the current situation and better for our daughter IMO. I am the caregiver for my daughter at all times excluding Sundays and like an hour break once my spouse gets off work on weekdays (according to our interim parenting agreement). I cook 95% of the meals, put her to bed almost every night, etc. Is this a reasonable thing to ask for?

I know people will say to lawyer up. Im just asking if this is a reasonable thing to ask for given the circumstances. Thanks listening, this subreddit and the people in it probably saved my life at one point. Much love to all of you.
