I’m in the midst of a divorce in SC. The ex is chasing a LOT of alimony based on a decade of marriage, no kids. She makes great money herself, but not as much as I do - hence the alimony.

My question is this: what are the downsides to filing based on “adultery” vs “no fault” and waiting the year of required separation? Is there a risk of blowback of any sort if you can’t ultimately prove it? Say you’ve just got lots of good evidence that would convince the average person, but MAY not meet the technical burden of proof?

Wondering if anybody has been in this situation and can speak to it. Any bad experiences? Thanks gentlemen.
