Just broke up with the first woman I dated post divorce. It was destined to happen- she’s a wonderful person, we just had nothing in common. I asked her last night what she was looking for in our relationship, and our goals didn’t align. I really appreciated her companionship, and I hoped we could stay friends, but she wanted more, and I’m just not in that space right now. Despite that, I really miss her, and feel awful for hurting her feelings. As a friend of mine put it, there are two choices: marriage or breaking up when it comes right down to it, and I couldn’t see myself ever being happy long term with her. There’s never a good time to end things, either, and of course with Christmas right around the corner, I feel extra awful. I could tell she was falling for me, and I really should’ve spoken up sooner, but like I said, I was enjoying the relationship. I thought divorce was tough, and that simple breakups would be easier, but there’s no good feelings here.

Just wanted to share since I haven’t got a lot of friends to talk to. Thanks for listening.
