Hello brothers,

Late 40s, married for two years with a two year old daughter (my first marriage, and only child). We have simply stopped loving each other and fights are getting ugly (no DV, just some shouting, but ugly enough for me).

I was the guy who was never going to get married or have kids, but somehow sneezed and here I am. Actually, I realized that there was not much family or friends left, so maybe I could have mine?... Now I regret my decision every single day. Not sane but not easy to avoid. I have been on and off depressed pretty much for the last two years.

Have a decent job, but I'm tired of it. And very sad. Grew up without a father and scares me to think the same may happen to my little one. Also scared about the financial consequences of a divorce as I'm not young.

So, ideally we could mediate this, but I do not know... They all look sane until the shitshow starts.

I'm hesitating to reach out to lawyers, but I feel like I have to before things deteriorate further.

Any advice on what to ask lawyers? How much to share? How to decide which one? Male or female? Does it matter?

Thank you all. Reading you helps a bit fighting the awful loneliness I feel.
