Why get divorced in NC when the home and one party is in TN? TN doesn't require you to separate for 1 year, and with the house in TN you have more of a claim to divorce in that state than NC.

Just sell the house and start over. Split the equity and move on. I assume no kids, so don't get her pregnant.

What States are you and your STBXW Residents of? If you are a Resident of TN then you need to file in TN. NC laws won't apply.

But I'm not a Lawyer, and you need to get one immediately.

Talk to a lawyer. In Florida if your married and let her live off you for 2 years she's entitled to alimony for a short duration. You could always go for an annulment. Had a friend say he was drunk when he married her. Video before the wedding clearly showed him intoxicated. Judge granted the annulment after 2 1/2 years of marriage. Then the dumb ass knocked her up! Don't be that guy!

Both NC and TN are no fault, equitable division states, except NC makes you be separated for a year before finalizing. You’re financial outcome will likely be the same in either state.

Depending on how much of a breadwinner you are, as in if she’s broke, she may request a piece of whatever growth you’ve had in your investments like 401k and such. She’s not entitled to anything you owned before the marriage, like a business and so on, so you’re in a good position.

You should get a lawyer, and have him draft the petition and state that you will sell the house and split the equity, if any exist. If she didn’t put any money down on the house and hasn’t made payments, she’s less likely to be awarded the money, but it’s better to cut your ties and move on, better to incentivize her with the house money, than battling in court and paying 10k to lawyers fighting for your other assets.
