Neighbor kid in college was a game changer for me. Way cheaper than a formal nanny, usually available weeknights, and after a couple times they're not a stranger anymore. Also ask around at your kids' school, other single dads sometimes swap coverage. Takes a village and all that, but you gotta build it yourself.

Go be social on the weekend. During the week go to work, take care of your kids, do the housework, do the yardwork, lift weights, do meal prep, and when that weekend hits go have fun while the kiddos are with mom (in time that will be with a special woman).

You are living the dream.

If you have your kids Sun-Thurs and your Fridays and most Saturdays are free, you are in the top 10% of good custody arrangements.

I don’t. When I’m not at work I have my daughter. Tf am I gonna do go waste money on a random hoe, lay in bed and doom scroll? I’d rather just go get my kid

I’m in your position and while I have not executed, I plan to hire someone regularly.

Type in your city and nanny group into Facebook and see who is there.

Lots of people posting on mine. Gonna interview a few and then have them come over and get to know my child. If all goes well, you got yourself a sitter on occasion. Probably smart to get to know a few as they might not be available she you need them as you are not hiring them full time.

But if you don’t have family close, what other option do you have?

Saw someone posting who needed help that same evening. Resulting to a last minute random on the internet to watch your kids is just nuts if you ask me.

But the dangers of hiring someone off the internet can be navigated with time, interviewing, and then getting to know your child.

Maybe the first few outings, you are not that far away.
