Not unless the lender agrees. If you cosign for someone, you are on the hook irrespective of relationship status. Family courts don't have the ability to change a third party contract.This is different from marital debt which is not under your name

Yeah, lawyer question but if you owe alimony perhaps this could be a form of support. So technically no need to get removed so long as you get credit for it. Just one among other possible options to consider.

Private or federal loans? For federal you are on the loans you cosigned for till she pays them or one of you dies... private you might be able to get off after she gets a job and makes payments, etc.

Sorry you are in this situation, but also they can garnish your check if she defualts etc... You might have lanague put into the decree that orders her to make all payments on time, or have her post a bound for six months worth of payments ( assuming there is enough cash in the marriage).

Now if you does defualt and they get the cash from you, you can sue her.
