It looks like I just landed myself in divorce land after my wife found out I’m cheating. I live in CA, no kids, no house, married 2 years. When I spoke to a lawyer, it sounded like it should be a pretty straight forward divorce but curious what has everyone’s experience been when it comes to spousal support.

I significantly out earn her, she makes maybe $40k a year and I’m just shy of $250k (but it is split 50/50 base commission so my monthly would be half of that). She threw a $1k figure a month for now and it seems like this is actually lower than what the calculators are showing.

If we go through mediation, what kind of discovery am I expecting? Bank statements? How far back? Should I try to avoid mediation and just split assets 50/50 from the inception of marriage and stick to her figure for the time being?
