Cross examination is when you get a court date and you actually get to talk about the motion in hand. The judge will let each party (or each party's lawyer) ask questions to the other party regarding the issue at hand.

Coming prepared is important. If you don't have a lawyer, lawyer up.

When someone mentions cross-examination, it's usually a threat that their lawyer will attempt to reveal some information about you that will negatively impact your chances to get a temporary (sole?) custody order.

The best advice I can ever give someone going into a hearing is to prepare. Prepare your lawyer by painting yourself in the WORST possible light, don't try to make yourself look good to your lawyer. Let your lawyer paint the good picture while being prepared for the bad.

Don't lie to your priest, your doctor or your lawyer.
