If it’s truly uncontested and you both agree on everything then...

Go to OfficeMax,get and fill out divorce paper work off the shelf.

Take it to a lawyer and pay $200 to have them filed.

Wait.

Be divorced.

My ex and I hated each other at the end,so we agreed to money and property issues and got the hell out.

I'm in the minority here. I printed out the paper work from the CO website, filled everything out, and sent it to her to sign. The only thing she didn't want to do was fill out the financial disclosures. Told her if we get lawyers and if she makes it difficult, she'll have to do the disclosures and pay 15 grand. Cooler heads prevailed and it cost us less than 200$ and some time to get divorced.

If your situation was one without meaningful assets and without kids, I would definitely recommend filing the paperwork by yourself and saving a ton of money. However, that is not your situation and I think you would be penny wise and pound foolish to not involve the experts.

In my case, we agreed on both of those things and were very pragmatic about the divorce. However, a mediator found some things that really needed to be addressed but that we had neglected to cover. As an example, we agreed on the financial aspects of child custody but neglected to put in a mechanism by which the financial could be reviewed or changed. It was a non-issue at the time but now, two years later, I am supremely happy that it is in place and have had to make use of it.

In my case, I put together a bullet point list of every single item that I could think of as well as our (ex's and my) position on the issue. I gave it to the mediator (and my ex) a week before the mediation and so we were able to wrap up the major issues very very quickly (under an hour). The remainder of the time was spent on things that we had not previously thought of. It was a very efficient use of time and money and protected me afterwards.

Unless you have a law degree I would not suggest an uncontested divorce. The minimum I would suggest is mediation. In the end you could misfile something and spend a ton of money to correct it. My ex and I were to share custody of our children, I filed the wrong document and the courts have awarded her sole custody. She uses it to her advantage and it makes my life miserable. Mediation is my recommendation.

Like everybody else suggests GO TO MEDIATION. Somebody who has experience with divorce. They can you walk through all sorts of things you haven't thought of. My and my wife were/are on pretty good terms. I got a pre-paid legal service (Legal Shield) that i used for filing the paperwork. It has worked out pretty well and Legal Shield does uncontested divorces just remember GET A MEDIATOR. Good Luck
