Why do they call it "co-parenting"?

Rant away, same for me. I fought this battle with myself because this phrase makes me sick. I found the phrase ‘parallel parent’, google it. I was practicing it before I knew what it even was during trial separation. Sounds like you feel the same way. I’ll do what I want as a real parent who didn’t bail on the family, no input necessary! I’ve recently learned a new term and it actually fits more of what we are talking about. I’m the same, my ex wife says we should co parent better. Which is impossible with her. So like the other guy said 100 percent of the decisions, 50 percent of the time.

It’s called parallel parenting. When the kids are with you, you do what you want and raise them how you want. Your rules are your rules and vice versa. Obviously some decisions need to be made together (medical, school, etc.) other than that, she can F off

It makes the pos parent feel better for blowing up their family and making their children’s lives much more difficult.

I’m not coparenting shit. I’m father of the year on my days and future golf club champ when the court order has my kid in my lying cheating ex wife’s care.

Before my ex-wife decided to obtain a TRO we had 50/50 time for 3.5 years. During that time I said I made 100% of the decisions, 50% of the time. I haven't had a meaningful relationship with my sons in over 2.5 years, now. Hoping to get back to them soon.

Don't over think it. It's just the term used for divorced parents. You've got the right attitude -- you aren't friends. I don't talk to my ex unless it's about something we need to coordinate, like driver's ed or braces for our 15yo.
