Me and my ex are currently discussing and working out agreements for a dissolution. We are on the same page on most everything, but there are a few things I have questions about. She wants to get more than 50/50, which would make me have to pay child support. The reason she wants to do that is that our son stays with her most of the time during the week because of my work schedule. (I work nights) Also she wants to put him solely on her insurance, etc. But my question is, if we file more of a 70/30 arrangement, and my work schedule changes and I wish to see him more, is it going to be more of a pain to head back to court and re file paperwork, rather than just file for 50/50 now and work out some sort of arrangement with money out of court? I don't think she would go for that without a fight because she believes I wouldn't pay her on time, etc. But I would be willing to fight for 50/50 if that meant less hassle down the road. Also, I don't want to be boxed into a lesser custody arrangement if things go south, she gets mad at me, etc. I just would like to know how the process works, and how hard would it be for me to fight for 50/50 right now, being that my work schedule wouldn't allow for him to stay at my house during the week currently. What is the best way to handle this? I live in the state of Alaska, BTW.
