OOP’s take on the possible workplace discrimination is awfully naive. Although the tech world is much more “progressive” than most male-dominated workplaces, there are still some hostile environments that would break anyone trying to make a change. Multiple people questioning his female coworker’s work could be a sign that the employee is factually incompetent, but it could also be a sign that the employee is being bullied. And it’s unfortunate to see that the OOP cannot possibly consider the employee to be a victim on the basis that she works in tech.

For all we know, the code reviewers might have turned their attention on the OOP’s bf and may have said some nasty things about him or mocked him. Even if it’s an insignificant comment it can make the situation more stressful for OOP’s bf.
