I've ranted about this before and felt the need to do so again after at work today at my bookstore there was a display for a book signing this past weekend and on it was a mini-biography of the author, talking about how she hopes to empower women with her books. Nothing wrong in and of itself with that, until it got to the last paragraph where it said "the future is female." I loathe and despise this slogan with all of my being and how it's seen as promoting equality and inclusivity is beyond me. It's a blatantly sexist, supremacist slogan and "the future is male" would be no different or better from it. It's no different from white supremacist rhetoric like "white power" and has the same bigoted intentions behind it. It blows my mind this slogan isn't only seen as socially acceptable but the way I've seen some feminists defend it, saying it's meant to promote equality and empowerment and how far women have come. It doesn't promote those things at all, it's an undisputably misandrist and supremacist slogan. It's disgusting and disturbing to me this slogan is seen as perfectly fine and acceptable, and that people genuinely believe there's nothing wrong with it. "The future is male" would be equally bigoted and ignorant, and it's backlash would be well-deserved. Yet this equally hateful slogan gets a pass. I worry for young boys who see this slogan everywhere and are basically being told they have no future and don't matter, in addition to all the other misandrist nonsense that's been so heavily enforced and promoted in society over the past number of years.
I'm posting this here on this sub because without a doubt this is a misandrist slogan, same as "The future is male" would also be misogynistic. Both promote hatred and supremacy, but one is seen as perfectly alright when it shouldn't be.
