80% of murder victims are male. Most murderers are male too, though.

This is because men value women's lives much more than they value the lives of other men. Misogyny is no joke, but there's always been a sort of push to value the lives of "women and children" more than that of men, even if women's opinions and achievements hadn't been valued as much for most of history.

6% of male murder victims and 34% of female murder victims are killed by an intimate partner. But of course - men are 4x as likely to be murdered, so that 6% is actually the equivalent of 24%.

Meaning if you had 100 murder victims in a room, 80 would be male and 20 would be female.

Of the men, 4.8 would have been killed by an intimate partner.

Of the women, that number would be 6.8.

This means that - of deaths related to domestic violence murders (not even including suicides), 41.2% of them are male.

If we're going to demonize men for being 58.8% of DV murderers, should we start demonizing women for being 52% of child abusers and mothers accounting for 71% of infanticide?

No, we shouldn't. That's an ecological fallacy at best. People do this to black people all the time. I don't have time to list the historical precedent for "Not all x but always x" or "You can't tell which mushrooms are poisonous".

Thank god we can analyze two things at once! It does seem like a lot of people can't do that, and they soon fall victim to herd mentality. Why is it so hard to accept that both misogyny and misandry are equally as bad and that they both exist nowadays?

I bring this shit up around feminists for two reasons, 1 feminists spread a shit ton of misandry, so yeah, it's a good spot to spread awareness. 2, if we're talking about rape, domestic violence, or other humanitarian issues, men deserve to be apart of the conversation.

If feminists weren't making space for hate, and weren't excluding men from social support, this wouldn't be an issue.

And I'm going to say that in the past 5 years I've been going at this, I've seen more, and more people standing up for men, so I say keep it up 🙌

You wanna know another form of whataboutism that women hipocritically always make? The "by other men" statement. It's almost always brought up in converations surrounding male victims of abuse/rape/SA/mgm. Always in the wrong conversations but never in conversation discussing actual studies and scientific journals. Next time you see anyone pull this shit, you slap them in the face with their hypocrisy.

Also it's a stupid thing to say because it invalidates/downplays the harm done to men who were abused by women.

Misandry may not take the same vile forms that misogyny tends to take it but it is FAR more common. In fact Misandry is practically normalized at this point in society, trendy even.

(Wether that hatred is based on unreasonable prejudice or on lived experience is a different question)

OH so prejudice is fine as long as it’s based off of lived experience? So I’m good to go and label all black people as thieves because I was robbed by one of them right? Or all women as whores because I got cheated on by one right?

And for the record whataboutism is a feminists game more than anything. Men feeling lonely? “Women feel that too!” Men killing themselves? “Women attempt more!” Men facing injustices from societies view of them as disposable through drafting and forced labor? “… Idk something to do with the patriarchy so it’s still all men’s fault!”

Hell the fuck no. This logic extends to any other kind of hate, the only purpose of saying things like that is to excuse such hatred and predjudice. It’s wrong no matter what.

Even this post you’re sharing here is a good example of whataboutism while talking about whataboutism, it’s excusing hatred, thus bad, even if understandable.

Whether it’s a whataboutism seems like something that can be readily ascertained based on context, making immediately discounting “not all men” or “men too” sentiments based on the automatic assumption that it’s trying to distract from women’s issues unreasonable and possibly an instance of confirmation bias.

Their argument is also premised on the fallacy of relative privation. They should ask themselves why the idea that women must always have it worse than men is such an important tenet of the feminist movement in their mind. Is it really all that necessary to make those comparative assertions in order to assuage the problems that women face? In my view, systemic disadvantages and maybe even oppression can be acknowledged without suggesting any sort of villain, especially accusing an entire demographic of being a “class of oppressors.” With any generalization comes implicit assumptions about causation, as if it’s some property of men that causes them to oppress women and create heinous acts, and they are quite explicit that the generalizations they make about men are not mere coincidences. They can act like they aren’t personal (which, of course, prejudice never is), but this interpretation is completely contradicted by the notion that individual men have unilateral authority over social issues or that men have one collective consciousness whose actions can be criticized in that manner. They very obviously blame all of women’s problems on men’s collective actions, which encourages them not to fully acknowledge any men’s issues since it means they would have to temper their pursuit of women’s equality through their consideration of additional nuance, not merely focusing on the precautionary correction of men’s actions.

What she seems to be saying is that if someone from a certain demographic shits all over you, then any prejudice against that entire demographic is reasonable.
