My ex seemed to think women were more emotionally driven than men. I think it varies in both genders. You have emotionally controlled people and emotionally immature people. I do tend to think men hide it, BUT that eventually it bubbles out (unless he's very disciplined). However, some men hide sadness and shame, but are quick to show anger and frustration.
With him I saw him act in his emotions in a very immature way over very small slights.
I just think it's a human issue, but a gender issue.
