So what you really want to look at in a statement like "it is more important for males" is to see just how important it was for anyone. If it wasn't that powerful overall, then it hardly matters if a decimal point more for males, you know? "more" can be de minimus, or too small to be worth considreing anything at all. Research papers never want to admit that they found almost nothing at all, so don't expect them to be very frank if the data show the impact is tiny for both.

And I'm not too interested in getting into the nitty-gritty. Becuase these researchers politely seem to have saved face for themselves, but still answered my question. Their conclusion simply says "looks matter" lol. THANKS! They made no conclusion whatsoever and whether they matter a great deal, or none at all, and knowing that paper authors have a "result bias," meaning they want big flashy results, I'm guesing not characterizing the amount of influence is a good indication it's quite quite tiny compared to thinks like able-bodiedness, educational opportunities, and really really standard and intuitive stuff that we KNOW impacts your outcome under capitalism.

We also suspect so heavily looks matter. I think all this paper says is, yes they do. But that they don't even try to conclude they matter substantially, or a lot, or barely at all.
