There isn't much difference at all in a functional sense, if any at all.

That's why a significant number of romances begin as friendships. And no, you can't predict which ones will go from friendship to romance with any degree of accuracy. Sometimes it just takes time to realise the best qualities of a person.

Attraction can be immediate, but it can also grow gradually.

Please don't overthink it. Sometimes people are just people, and trying to game the system does more damage than good.

Physical factors are significantly important, though probably not as as they are for men. Women respond to visual stimuli as well, in fact in sexology tests women showed physical arousal to a wider variety of sexual images than men.

Women have a lot of variance in what they what they find attractive. What is a friendship personality for one, might be a romantic personality for another. The same is true in reverse.

Improving your personality to find a partner is more about cleaning it up and making it more accessible. For an analogy: If you had car you wanted to sell, you'd fix up the engine, make sure it was clean, maybe have it painted if need be. You wouldn't figure out the highest selling car and then try to disguise your car as that other car. Similarly you shouldn't try to develop a whole different personality, you should just try to clean up yours and make it more presentable, and get rid of any major problems (like fixing the car).

How do you do that:

Make more friends, especially platonic women friends
Be a better friend to yourself, learn to not beat yourself up over mistakes
Pick up new hobbies, and try to do new things in general to make yourself more well rounded and more interesting to talk to
Read more, and read things you normally woudn't
Exercise some, not to become super muscular, just to maintain your health and regulate your brain chemicals
Go to therapy, even if you don't have major problems, they can help you in many ways
Consider your traditionalist beliefs and consider abandoning some of them
Learn to handle rejection and not take it personally
Learn to focus on the other person's personality and how it might not fit with yours and be willing to reject them
etc.

Doing these sorts of things won't necessarily get you more attention from women. Getting more attention isn't the goal. The goal is to put you in a place where if someone comes along that has the potential to be into you, you'll be in the best position for them to notice you. Doing these sorts of things get your ready to be in a long term and healthy relationship and makes you more accessible to potential partners who would want that with you.

What you said about men finding average women attractive, you’re not comparing two sides of the same coin here. What makes men erect and what women finds sexy works on wholly different levels.

It depends on what the man abd women’s current sex love and attachment styles are.

A women who uses sex and pleasing men as validation for being loveable (a sad but real after effect of abuse by men) will desire and act drastically different from the above.

While a securely attached women who wants a life partner may value much more the traits that make a good life partner than say looks or status.

The reality is attraction is subjective and contextual in relation to the person whom attraction is being measured.

There are some general traits all sexes and genders find attractive but everyone has a unique type, even if some do not know it yet.

Having a friendship personality is a great way to end up alone. Its ultimately a waste of time. Relationships arent about friendliness and chumminess, they're about sexual desires. Otherwise the "I have a bf" response would mean nothing. You need to focus on getting the S/R attractive personality. It's the only one that matters.
