Why is height emphasized so much?

They went on Tinder once (or saw posts on social media about people on Tinder) and saw how some girls have height requirements.

The whole world is not on Tinder. Tinder is not the world.

It's a perceived factor because media tells us girls are short and men are tall - think about most shows and films and plays you've seen. The woman is always shorter. It's reinforced in other ways too - my school did some country dancing when I was about 8, the taller girls had to play the 'boys' role and were paired with other girls (interestingly, none of the short boys were made to be girls).

Statistically, men are on average taller than women. So the fact this idea exists isn't totally surprising.

The issue comes from people who assume that because they don't fit the average they are doomed to a sexless life. I know many couples where the woman is taller. I'm sure there are some women who prefer men who are taller than them, but that's all it is, a preference of some women. I would doubt it's the majority, just because I don't think that many people have a set list of their preferences.

I'm pretty lucky because I'm 6'2 already but whenever it comes up in a conversation and I ask almost all girls will say they won't date a guy who's shorter but that's about it. being tall helps like having a good pair of tits helps but that's about it. no need to be insecure about height my dude.

I'm 187cm (6'1.5") and I prefer girls who are under 170cm, so the height thing has never come up for me personally. I don't know how much of an authority I'll be here, but I'll give my 2c.

I think the height hangup comes from 3 sources.

1) The media (Hollywood, TV, etc.)

2) Academic studies (Some scientific…. others not)

3) Online Dating (Women's profiles, etc.)

Of course, it's hard to challenge the media and the academic studies (especially the ones that actually use good methodologies). These sources claim that for *many* women, a taller guy is seen as more of a catch. Part of that goes back to our evolutionary past (taller/bigger men had an easier time hunting) and part of it is due to the real/perceived social advantages enjoyed today.

So, on the surface of things, it looks like the deck is stacked against short dudes. But that's on the surface.

In reality, for *many* women (not all), the height preference is just that…..a preference. It's not always a hard, insurmountable limit. I think a lot of guys in the MGTOW camp mistake a *preference* for a *requirement,* and then end up not even taking action because they assume it will be futile to do so.

For example... When a woman goes online and puts down that she would like a man who's 6' or taller, is that a hard limit, or is that just a preference that she's wiling to give some wiggle room to? One way to find out is to pay attention to the language and words she's using. If she's really emphasizing it, by writing it in all caps or words like "must," then it's pretty clear it's a hard limit, and she's not willing to budge. Unfortunately, there's nothing much you're going to be able to do at that point, so better to just let her go. If not, perhaps she's more open to dating shorter, if the guy has a lot of the other qualities she's looking for.

Are there going to be lots of women who ABSOLUTELY MUST have a guy over a certain height, no exceptions? Yes. But fortunately I find that this is the minority. Again, the mistake being made here is taking what a small subset of women say, and project that on to every woman.

It's similar to mens attraction to women with low body fat % & good waist to hip ratio, it's a sign of the genetics we as humans have evolved to "need".

Its party inbeded in women due to them needing strong fierce males in the distant past to fend off predators. Similarly to how animals puff up to scare off predators tall men seem more imposing & dangerous thus scaring off potential threats.

It's also embedded in media & culture so that's another factor.

MGTOW is about going your own way ie ambivalence towards relationships, it is mainly incels who are obsessed with height as they see it impeding their chances

I would have to agree with them that height is an important factor, and my answer would be who cares.

Unless you are religious, there is nothing forbiding you from masturbation which is the natural solution to a lack of opportunities to pursue intimacy.

If you are religious you shouldnt be on these websites anyway as it is impeding your spiritual growth.
