At this point, trying to ask people to respect my boundaries is the same as trying to change them. I just see people for who they are and I leave if they can’t respect me. Lost a few friends and turned down way more men but it’s definitely not a loss for me!

And there's no shame in doing this. Everyone has boundaries and that's perfectly fine. I support your choice. Life is too short to fill it with men who don't respect your boundaries.

This has ended a lot of relationships for me, but in a positive way. I realized waiting for people to treat me the way I deserved wasn’t honoring who they are or who I am. Sure, there is some LVM and pickmeisha who will love each other. That isn’t me. Now, I honor me. If you also honor me, my spirit, what I add to this world then yeah we might have a shot but frankly, I’m pretty fuckin awesome and people who don’t see that are not worth teaching. Yes some people genuinely are born in terrible situations (raises hand) but what you DO with that experience makes you who you are. Are you a survivor? Or are you the next link in that chain.

Completely agree! Whenever I've had to ask a boyfriend to accept my standards, they always made it seem out of the ordinary and impossible (opening doors, being a provider, coming to my house on time, etc.). It wasn't until FDS that I figured I was asking the wrong people.
