She did do something terrible. She cheated on her husband instead of ending the relationship (if I’m reading this right), and more importantly she slept with a young male 25 years younger than her, barely an adult, which is predatory and disgusting if I’m being honest. Whether this was “consensual”, and whether he was using her or not, is kind of irrelevant to those facts.

She is harming both of them by continuing this involvement.

But she did do something terrible. He's young enough to be her son--that's ridiculous. She also should realize this younger guy just wanted sex and in no world is a 20 year old guy "her way out" of an abusive relationship.

In my opinion, you can’t make people see it. They have to discover it themselves. If she’s unwilling to take of the blinds, you can’t rip them off for her. You probably already told her a thousand times. Just talk about how you are being treated by your dates/partner, maybe she’ll pick up on it. If she keeps talking about this subject, you can set a boundary and say something along the lines of “Carrie, I’m here for you and I want to be a good friend to you, but we continually end up on this topic, and it’s hurting me to see how you keep tormenting yourself and keep getting hurt. If there’s any changes in the situation or if you are ready to change things, I’ll be here, but for now I prefer if we don’t discuss this.”

She shouldn’t have done what she did but that’s a moot point now. And first he said he couldn’t resist, implying he want getting easy sex who could turn that down? Then he said it was rape, so which is it? It sounds like he is a LVM like her husband. He is trying to push all the responsibility of this affair on her by claiming rape so she definitely needs to move on but to insinuate she raped him is low because that didn’t happen he said so himself. The way you explained it makes sense to me but I’m more forgiving I don’t know religious people are really misogynistic
