Advice please! A guy keeps asking me out for coffee. How can I hint to him that I want him to take me somewhere nicer?

If you’re younger/ college aged I’d say go on the coffee date with him.

Honestly, despite what everyone else on this sub thinks, there’s nothing wrong with coffee dates. If things go south, you can leave earlier (can’t really do that with dinner) and it’s good for screening him without the commitment of a ‘real’ date.

I personally wouldn't even bother trying. I would just ghost him.

I recently cut a guy off for this exact same reason. He wanted me to drive an hour and a half round-trip to grab coffee with him. Thanks, but no thanks. Even cheap guys I've dated in the past would at least buy me a meal on the first date. They also drove to me. This guy was clueless.

I get coffee with friends. I am a huge coffee lover. I wouldn't count coffee as a date. It's more of a short hang out during the day when you have other stuff going on. I wouldn't mind grabbing coffee with someone I am interested in if I'm too busy for a full date that week. With that said, I mostly go to coffee places alone to read or work on HW.

Why would you hint that. Just straight up tell him you don't do coffee dates. If he doesn't get the message or asks what you want to do just ghost him. He doesn't sound worth the effort honestly.

You don’t have to hint anything just be upfront. “I prefer dinner dates to get to know someone better how about we go to XYZ :)” you don’t have to be rude or ugly. And if he keeps insisting on coffee you simply stop responding. ✌️

He offered coffee. You said no thanks. He offers coffee again. Now he's showed you that he doesn't care about your preferences and thinks "no" means "harass me until I acquiesce". He's low value and disrespectful of your boundaries.

There is nothing more for you to do. Block and move on.
