And life gets even shorter with the wrong person. Literally. On average, married women live less, and the lives they do have are usually pure drudgery. That is way more depressing than being single and living on your own terms. Once you realize that this pushed narrative, that men are our sole life goal, is a sham, you can never go back.

It’s been long enough since my husband died that I’m finding myself where I was right before I met him - blissfully single, and just absolutely joyous at living each day on my terms without having to make adjustments for a partner. I’d forgotten how wonderful it felt.

I’m glad I married and had my child, but I don’t see myself in a serious relationship ever again. I want to be greedy and selfish for the rest of my days!

Yep, when you realize you don't have to adjust your attitude and personality just to "keep the peace", don't have to waste time and energy taking care of the man's fee-fees, don't have to waste time cleaning after lazy manchild, don't have to adjust your expectation and goals over the risk of "making the man feel worthless" - you found yourself with alll the time and money and freedom to do whatever the heck you wanna do.

That shit is addicting AF and I am never going to stop.

Sure dreaming about finding the perfect husband is fun, but that's what books and movies are for - all the fun minus the bullshit.

I've been the happiest Ive ever been since being single after 5 years. My ex did me a blessing by coming to terms being gay and calling things off. Looking back I realized that relationship wasn't for me (even when things were good that I miss).

I occasionally talk to men but have no interest in dating despite having a voluntarily 0 sex life (and I really enjoy [PIV] sex) because the lack of fear of pregnancy and STD, avoiding negging, toxicity, power tripping and someone telling me what I should do with my work, school and life... iy just feels way better.

Being alone isn't lonely for me and my cat brings me so much joy. I can dabble in my hobbies in peace... and I am just loving life so much more.
