This is exactly why a date like that is not fds.

Your time is valuable and you are in demand. That's why he only gets 1 hour of your time. Maybe 1.5 hours. Texting is only to set up a date/ make a plan. Phone calls are only 10 to 20 minutes once or twice a week. Dates are once a week.

The goal is to prevent a man that you don't know from monopolizing all of your time and energy. To prevent premature and Ill advised attachment. To prevent love bombing. To give you proper time and space to vet the man correctly. To maintain proper priorities and boundaries.

I feel like too elaborate starts bordering on love bombing. I love a good old fashioned elegant dinner date that shows he has put thought into what cuisine and dining style I like.

This is a really common PUA and love bombing tactic. It’s supposed to build a false sense of intimacy in a short amount of time and wear down your boundaries. I would not recommend going on this date or seeing this guy. A first date shouldn’t last more than an hour, the absolute max maybe 2. Don’t fall for it

I've never had that experience, so it's hard to say for sure. I don't do OLD, so I would only be going out with someone I already know that I like - at least a bit.

If this is an OLD date couldn't you just say you have plans afterwards (or need to get to bed early, etc.) and ask just to do the first part of the plan? It gives you a perfect follow up to finish the rest of the date/plan later if you do end up liking the guy.
