The columnist is right that she's restricting her search too much. 200k is the top 3.65% of household incomes. If her income is higher than that and she only wants to date people who make as much or more, she's restricted her dating pool too much, which is evidenced by the fact that she's 46 and single, never married.

I'm not saying she should settle for a man without a college degree or a man who doesn't make the average annual household income of 75k--many teachers and social workers in high cost of living areas make that much. But there's no self-awareness of where she'd draw the line. Is 100k enough? 150k? Because if she'd filter out potentially good men making 100k/yr, then she's going to have very few choices. (Now, whether it would make sense for her to marry a low earner without the protections of a prenup is a different question.)
