Someone from high school followed me

My encounter isn’t really dramatic or anything I just felt like maybe I should share so other people don’t do this because it’s creepy af.

So I work at a supermarket at the customer service desk. Since I’m in college my shifts are usually closing the desk instead of the actual store because it gets out a little earlier.

This means that I’m usually scheduled to close the customer service desk since the store closes at 11. This particular day I saw a guy that I went to high school with and he came up to the customer service desk just to say hi.

I was never close to him or anything I just remember having a class with him. I was the only underclassmen in this class so I was really quiet even though my personality is quite the opposite. Because of this I was quite surprised that he even remember me.

Anyway we greet each other and he ask usual questions like how am I and what am I doing up here? (I moved 7 hours away from my hometown for college) I wasn’t really interested in the conversation because he was never an appealing person to me even just friendship wise. He had an annoying, dumb jock vibe going for him because that’s really what he was.

He finally leaves after asking if I had a boyfriend which I did at the time but even if I didn’t I would’ve said yes. This was about an hour before we close. So I go about my day and completing forget about seeing him by the time I get off.

I grab my keys from the back and wait for someone to let me out so they can lock the door behind me and start walking to my car. This is important only because if this encounter would’ve taken a turn for the worst I couldn’t just go run back into the store.

Our parking lot is pretty big which is really annoying at night because we have to park in specific areas really far away so that customers have spots available for them up front. I always park all the way in the back of the parking lot out of habit.

So I start walking all the way down the parking lot which is almost empty except for a few other coworker’s cars who haven’t gotten off yet. I get about half way to my car when I realize that there’s a car driving really slowly behind me. I have no idea how I didn’t hear it before but I only noticed because they turned their lights on.

I’m Im hoping that it’s just a coincidence but I twist my pepper spray just in case. I finally get to my car and of course the car followed me all the way over. The person rolls their window down and it ends up being the guy from high school I saw earlier. As soon as I saw him I told him he scared the shit out of me and that it wasn’t cool to drive up behind me while I’m by myself and it’s this late at night. He just laughs and proceeds to ask me if I wanted to go out some time. I said no BECAUSE I clearly told him I had a boyfriend earlier and he really was creeping me out now.

I asked him if he waited for me to get off and he actually says yes. That’s when I told him I wasn’t interested and to not speak to me again. He called me a bitch and sped off. I don’t know why he thought that was okay to do but please don’t do creepy shit like that.

You might think it’s cute but I promise you it’s not. It’s just really scary. People die like this. They get raped like this. They go missing like this. And if somebody already replied no take the damn hint.

Edit - I didn’t call this guy a rapist or a killer. I just said a lot of those happen in circumstances like this. This isn’t to attack men or put all the blame on them for everything horrible happening in the world. It’s literally me telling you how this experience was interpreted and why it isn’t a good idea to approach women this way.
