Agree. It's the beginning of the end. Couples often break up because of this and then get back together because he promises to do better but he can never keep up his motivation once he loses it.

This is exactly what ended my relationship. Apparently, “effort” was taking the time to see me when he could have been doing something else.

Thank you. Sometimes I can get sucked into the whole idea of “not everyone’s perfect” “some days are going to be shitty” “he’s not in the mood” and trying to be fair, yada yada yada, into thinking it’s normal.

It really doesn’t have to be like that. Sometimes I wonder if my expectations are too high, then too low at times lol

I definitely needed to hear this. This is my situation right now. I’ve wasted far too much time telling him he’s taking me for granted, with him putting in token efforts, only to take me for granted yet again. I’m leaving.
