Not to be a downer but this person tagged here is a bit trashy for posting a Maya Angelou quote without crediting it.

It's so trite though, nobody in real life does this. Most don't have an endless, supply of people to engage with who they can filter out. It's a great theory, doesn't work in practice.

It's very, very hard to start doing it. I fully understand that and agree. It seems like you have to get rid of almost everyone when you start.
But it's worth it. I have a best friend of 20 years, she has never hurt me. I've never hurt her. We've never insulted each other and we've never betrayed each other.
Those people are out there. But you won't ever find them if you're preoccupied with crappy people you kept giving more chances to hurt you.

I think the lesson here is to see people as they are and believe that. Understand their capabilities. Understand what that means for what they can offer you in life and what their limitations are. It doesn’t mean cut them off (unless it’s someone you were vetting as a partner or someone who is clearly a low value person), just understand not everyone will be a ride or die and that’s okay.

I see this and agree, you are right. I was very stupid in the past.

I disagree. Works in practice with practice. It’s learning to recognize the red flags sooner than later...

Has to be practiced for years for ultimate value. It’s a life strategy.
