I’ve had too many men slither back because ‘I’m such a good person omg what were they thinking letting it end’ and it is repulsive, quite frankly.

Letting it go is the best thing ever. I am so GRATEFUL I found this sub every damn day.

Dog in the manger. For those who don't know this saying, it comes from a story about a dog being so salty that he couldn't eat the hay (can't remember why maybe allergies) in the manger like the other animals that he sat on top of all the hay so no one else could have it.

I’ve seen so many people online have this toxic mentality. Men on Twitter will outright say that they want their partner to be miserable with them than be happy with someone else.

Several of my exes try to weasel back into my life but keep me at arm’s length. It’s so insulting to think they think that’s what I’m worth. Some hot/cold, push/pull bullshit just because they’re too fucked up to have a normal relationship, yet they are flattered that anyone like me ever loved them and probably don’t want to “lose” me to another man. It’s so selfish. If they really loved you, they would want to let you go to find someone who could give you all that they couldn’t. It’s not like these guys don’t know they can never make you happy. They do. They just want to poke around and see if you still feel anything for them so they can keep their game going.

Their intention is not to commit to you. Most of the time they just have no other options. Me? I stopped engaging these guys in any kind of communication. I had to take a step back even from this sub, because I realized I was wasting a huge amount of energy on complete losers and I needed to reassess my life, and I got rid of several men that were wasting my time and adding nothing of real value to my life. I had to get real with myself and realize the root cause of my depression and anxiety has always been MEN. At this moment in my life I have absolutely no desire for a man. I’m working very hard on myself though, so that if/when I do want one, I can justify demanding a high quality one. Meanwhile, I’m glad I took out the trash.

Exactly! My ex only became interested in me again after I started dating again. Everything was all fine and dandy when he was telling me about all the women he was sleeping with, but the moment I told him I was going on dates... This man started threatening to kill himself and shit. Nope.
