We probably talked about this already and many of us had their own experiences with male friends and what place they have in our lives.

I used to have male friends, who were respectful towards me and seemed to really care. No sexual comments, no weird behaviour, we had fun in our little friend group going out and just doing stuff like Paintball or going to an amusement park together.

All of this stopped, when I met my husband and while I missed doing fun activities with my friends, I have never really forgiven them dropping me like that. Some of them even had girlfriends. But I was the one, who wasn't contacted anymore once I said a word about meeting a guy I like.

Basically this was my experience with male friends up until now.

I met a guy through my SIL, who had similiar interest like me (I LOVE Martial Arts and he is actively doing Taekwondo, something I did for years before switching to Kickboxing). We laughed alot and I saw him quiet often when getting together with my SIL and our friends. He is single, but very respectful and probably has alot of HVM qualities as far as I got to know him. He's known my husband for years and he definitely knows that I am happily married and expecting a child.

Today I got a message via Facebook, said friend asked me how I feel and if everything is okay. Apparently he heard about me "leaving" my husband. We NEVER had any contact privately before.

I was hesistant to talk about anything regarding my relationship, since I am still resolving the issue with my husband and am absolutely not interested in another man romantically. My "friend", who I saw as someone I could get involved with platonically, decided to full-on attack. He asked me out for dinner today and seemed to be eager about taking care of me. I declined his invitation and decided to ignore his messages for today, since it's too much to handle for me.

Now here is what I ask myself now:

Are male friends possible when you're a HVW?

So far I only had bad experiences (and males falling in love with me eventhough they got to know my husband etc).

But what about you ladies here, do you have positive experiences with male friends who didn't suddenly show their true colors?

I am really disappointed right now, since I really liked talking to this "friend" of mine and now I am obviously alot more hesistant to get along with anyone who has an Y-chromosome.
