So I went through a rough breakup with a LVM just after the new year. FDS got me through this time and had me reflecting on all my pick-me tendencies. I spent one night last month literally reading the entire FDS handbook/resources etc. And now, I’m happy to report I went on my first date since & am feeling the positive effects of FDS.

Things I recognized tonight because of this lovely community:

-he mentioned majority of his friends were married and went on to say how he didn’t get along with most of their wives. I asked why and he couldn’t give a good reason 🚩

-he talked about how one of his friends wives was a “gold digger”. Asked for details and yet again couldn’t give a reason. I had fun politely calling him out of the misogyny in this claim.

-I calmly sat there when the check came. He paid and I said thank you. I was so much more comfortable in this moment with my FDS mentality than I have been in the past.

He sent a follow up message telling me we should do it again and I declined saying it wasn’t the connection I was looking for.

These are simple points, but they are a huge step for me compared to my previous dating tendencies. Thank you to everyone in this sub! I’m feeling on top of the world tonight.
