Male lurkers: This is the shit women have to worry about when they travel overseas and/or alone. When Western women bring this up, a lot of you say "oh, well she shouldn't have went home with the one guy" or "she retracted the statement, so she really wanted it and lied." No, this is cultural misogyny. Believe women close to you when they say this is a risk. Call out other men when they show a mere whiff of apologism and "cultural relativism" for this bullshit. Sometimes you use "worse" incidents in other countries to excuse sexism in the Western world. Newsflash: it is all from the same problem. It's on you to speak up if you truly are a "feminist" and want to change the world for us and our sisters overseas. Don't whine when we refuse to meet you in a secluded place on a first date. It's not our problem if your feefees are hurt because we won't trust some dude we barely know. Think critically.

Ladies: Please never apologize for your safety precautions on a date or wherever. This girl did absolutely nothing wrong, endured a trauma, was accused of lying, and now may be imprisoned.
