I grew up with the “Golden Books” collection. I don’t remember this one specifically, but I was able to find it. Apparently, it’s called “Bialosky's Special Picnic.”

Edit: Okay, guys. I actually found a video on YouTube where someone reads the book to you, and it was honestly pretty funny. Bialosky, a male bear, wakes up to eat breakfast only to discover that he is out of honey. He invites his friend Susie to go on a picnic in the forest and look together for more honey. He promises he knows exactly where to find the honey. He “borrows” (steals) a random boat that they happen upon and tries to sail Susie to the supposed honey location. The boat starts sinking so they have to swim. When they get to their destination, it turns out Bialosky was wrong. There’s no honey there.
It starts raining, so he and Susie have to huddle under a tree with their picnic blanket. Meanwhile, a squirrel eats all their food. Susie is hungry and frustrated. Finally, the rain stops and a rainbow appears. Susie suggests they follow the rainbow because her mother always told her there’s a pot of honey at the end. They end up at ... a general store. And, Bialosky finally agrees to just buy some damn honey. As they’re eating it, Bialosky says “Well, this was a good picnic after all.” And Susie literally responds with “Well, anyway ... it was different.” 😂
