My ex-husband made the same amount of money as me but got home 3 hours earlier and did literally nothing. I think he vacuumed twice ever because I asked him to.

One powerful thing I didn't even realize wasn't the norm was the way my dad did things around the house growing up. At some point there was a big shift in their relationship..I was still young at the time and maybe didn't understand but looking back now I totally see it was not typical at the time.

He cooked meals for our family of six, did ALL the laundry, cleaned up, and whatever he could after work because at some point their schedules just didn't make sense for him to wait around for her to do those things. I think it began out of common sense and necessity: for example no one would eat until late if he was to wait for my mom to cook instead of just cooking himself. It grew into mutual respect and honestly I saw their relationship as such a strong team. He is one of the most scary, strong, intimidating looking Mexican men out there and unapologetic about helping with every task at home and involving his family.

My mom always seemed more happy and supported than many of my friends moms which allowed her to do really great things in her career and family life.

Recently I heard a co-worker of mine telling that he gets home earlier than his wife so of course he cooks and cleans up. Also my grandpa used to cook and do chores when my grandma was unable to do stuff due to disability. Now that he is widowed he still does all chores by himself, and occasionally drives half an hour distance just to bring me some of the awesome apple cake he bakes.

Men like that exist and should be the standard. The lazy "I want a bangmaid" ones should finally perish for the best interest of us all.

My cousins husband hardly helps with cleaning, cooking or the baby because he’s a ‘Mexican man’ yada yada . Okay then, get a job, or better yet go to my 6’5 Arab dad and tell his ass about child rearing and cleaning being a woman’s job. My dad did all of that.

I guess he’s trying to compensate for being 5’4 the only way he can 💀. This man also makes up fights he had to seem more masculine and divert from the fact he’s almost 100 pounds.

My parents have been married 28 years and my father STILL cooks dinner every night for my mom and makes her breakfast on the weekends. It’s not hard.
