It was something like "Relationships that continue for more than X number of months are unlikely to see a proposal".

I tried to find it but I can't. I'd be interested in reading the source. I think it takes me a long time to get to know someone, so one rule that I've personally disagreed with the handbook was any length of time that was specific. I understand the goal - don't waste your time on someone who won't commit. I get that and I agree, but I was more flexible on how long was too long. I guess, trust is an issue right, and I feel like because of bad experiences I'd need more time to build up trust now that I know how wrong things can go. So it's a balance in not becoming a forever girlfriend and allowing enough time to pass that I feel like I trust.

But if there's evidence to back up any specific length of time, I'd be interested in reading that and seeing how it shapes my views.
