Valid points, but i do believe the oppressor HAS to give in to stop the oppression. Without male allies, who i personally label feminists today, women would have yet to gain their basic human rights in most societies. We see that clearly in how some countries still treat women as slaves while other countries don't, the main difference being how willing men are to give up their privileges.

But thinking about this, i do agree they should only be able to be labeled as allies. My gut feeling tells me it'd be a green flag if a man claimed to be an ally, while claiming to be a feninists is cringe at best and red flag at worst. Personally if i was a man i'd probably be humbled by the sheer information one has to go through to understand women's reality, and i wouldn't be able to label myself any more than an ally whereof i could imagine claiming to be a feninist if i hadn't at all read into it and just thought women have some minor issues like a tiny wage gap or insecurities regarding weight.

Theory; a man will claim to be a feminist himself if he has yet to understand how oppressed women really are. He'll claim to be an ally if he understands.
