Should I expect a Mother’s Day Gift?

Personally I wouldn’t expect that, to me it would be weird. Birthdays, Christmas, anniversary, valentines etc, definitely, but not Mother’s Day, you’re not his mother and you don’t have children together.

This relationships sounds too casual for that expectation, unfortunately. He's a long distance boyfriend, at best. Now, if you were in a committed serious relationship where you lived together, he had bonded with your child and taken on a parenting roll, yes, he should/would take your older child out to pick out a gift to give to you for Mother's Day.

I think you're questioning this because he hasn't proved himself as a HVM. You said it's been 6 months and you're not sure. Of course by 6 months you don't know someone, but you should have an idea. Also I think not being official is "iffy". He's too far away for you to be investing so much. It's apparent he can't even give you what you need🤷

The problem isn't expecting a gift in general (which you can), but will HE get you a gift, or even acknowledge you?

I'd caution against asking yourself if your expectations are "too much". That's not for us to decide because these are for YOU. And honestly, if I was dating a woman with kids, I'd do something. Even if it's small. I'm pretty sure Russell Wilson did something for Ciara even though Future wasn't his child.

No, that would be weird. Mother’s Day gift should be from the kid or the other parent.

I don’t know how things are done but I’ve always thought Mother’s Day gift is from child to mother and not husband to mother, especially not casually dating a guy and expecting a Mother’s Day gift because you have a child. But that is just how Mother’s Day is celebrated around me, or maybe I have low standards

Because he’s been in military training. Didn’t think it was worth it making official if he’s can’t even prove himself to me 100% yet. He’s suppose to come back permanent in July... I hope to see how things work out then.
