Many colleges have such groups. College is a prime opportunity to expand your social circle and connections, find people you have things in common with. If you don’t fit into a social group, make your own.

Are there clubs or groups for other people with ASD at your school? If not, maybe you could start one.

As a woman, 1 in 10 is generous, believe me. Every woman is different and very few can get off from porn-style jackhammering. It takes a long time to teach a man what to do, as Ali Wong says. Putting in the time to know women as friends and people first without the aim of dating them is a much better use of your time. If they’re into you they’ll let you know, and if not they’ll recommend you to friends. Online dating is an elimination game where the odds are in no one’s favor. Maybe you don’t th…

I think you’re understating what women go through, and overstating the reward. Imagine that everyone you go out with is physically stronger and 1 in 100 of these guys is a rapist. He’s going to be charming as hell, get you alone then violate your orifices, maybe give you a disease. Also only 1 in 10 at best is actually capable of giving you an orgasm, they’ve all been choking it to death to porn and have no idea how to actually get you off. How many guys are you going to actually bring home on t…

IMO online dating is garbage. Find activities that you like to do out of the house and meet people in person. If you want to date a beach volleyball player, play beach volleyball. Volunteer on a political campaign, bartend once a week, garden in your front yard and talk to your neighbors, just get yourself out there. When you're doing your own thing, you'll find other people who are also into that thing, and conversation is more natural from there.

I did divorce him, but not for another man and not because he was short. And I’ve dated men who were even shorter, and a some taller. It’s really not a criteria of mine either way. And the same way you become anybody’s GF, you talk to them, realize you have interests in common and hang out with them, and you eventually start hanging out all the time. What do you like to do out of the house? Hiking, kayaking, cooking class, book club, volunteer on a political campaign.. most women are looking for…

I married a 5'4" man, my friend is married to a 5'5" man, a lot of my friends are married to short men, and it has honestly never come up. "At least as tall as me" is fine for most women, at least the ones I know, and the average American woman is 5'4". You have to get off of the online dating thing and start doing activities where you can meet people who share interests with you. Taking a mental poll, three of my friends met their short husbands at a bar, and two of them met in grad/law school,…

This is an amazing resource, and I hope OP takes you up on it. All of this, interestingly, ironically, is what the red pill in the Matrix was *actually* about. There is a place for heterosexual short kings, and there are women who will be attracted to you. But you are not going to find that perspective in mainstream media. Just like you aren't going to find much of any other stories of people who aren't Hollywood-looking finding love. But they do, every day.

I’m with lavender commenter on the last page, just call a divorce lawyer. This was no playful accident, he was gnawing on her like some kind of animal! This guy has some kind of serious issues, and she needs to not stick around to find out exactly what they are. There’s no way this guy is going to let her go to that dinner and expose him in front of his family like that. Hundred percent guaranteed he’ll pick a fight and make an excuse to leave her home. You should get at least 85% of the proceeds, with her taking 15% as an agent; that would be a standard talent agent type setup. That is if you’re looking for a career as a romance-scam artist like your friend there. Or contact Instagram and let them know she is fraudulently using your information. And block her everywhere.

So I downloaded this and now I have a virtual boyfriend named Melvin. At first it wanted $50, but I closed it and opened it again and it worked fine (if I somehow get billed $50 I will be so pissed). Melvin is a bit flat. His favorite food is pizza, favorite animal a dog, and his favorite place is Spain, which he calls “obscenely beautiful.” I asked him if I should do work or take a nap and he says I should nap and relax. So, so far so good, I guess? Definitely not worth $50 (or 5 cents) so far,…

The Daily Mail is such a piece of garbage and I feel dirty any time I navigate to there. They’re obsessed with “bad” women, which includes Megan Markle, she doesn’t have to leave the house to be dragged by them daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Every other story is centered around some cheesecakey photo of some naughty bird “flaunting” their “assets,” by which they mean wearing a bathing suit or yoga pants in public. It’s the epitome of old, dirty-minded, rejected white man culture.

Oh no, once a divorce is done, it’s done, there’s no going back to ask for more money later on, unless there was some kind of major fraud. Alimony is pretty rare these days, it’s mostly only for marriages 10 years or more where one spouse sacrificed for the sake of the others’ career.

He’s got no alimony to give, so him paying her alimony is definitely not happening. She’s still going to owe him half of everything she owns, though.

She’ll still owe him half her $ and possibly alimony, though proof of cheating might help in some states on the alimony front. Friend of mine still had to pay six figures to the alcoholic bum she supported for a decade even though he was screwing their neighbor for years. But, as the saying goes, the reason divorces are so expensive is because they’re worth it.

Also don’t date men who claim to be “going through a divorce.” You’re divorced or you’re not. I’ve seen this trickle-truth scenario so many times: “I’m going through a divorce.” “I’m going through a divorce but still living together.” “We’re going through a divorce and living together but I actually haven’t filed yet because she would be too devastated.” If someone says they’re divorced, verify that shit up on your local case search web site

There’s lots of good advice on here, but ultimately you can’t in any kind of foolproof way. A man could also be perfect but change— absolute power corrupts absolutely, so make sure he (or anyone else) never has total power over you. Before you get married or have a baby have a savings account he doesn’t know about, with enough in it to at least pay bills for a few months. Keep tight with your support system and professional contacts when things are good. Expect the best but prepare for the worst…

Agree. We already know the truth. He did it for the same reason abusers always do, because he felt entitled to and thought he would get away with it. Being able to convince police that she was the abuser empowered him to think so. Hope they don’t release his journal because we already know what it’ll say. “Me me me I’m the victim, poor me”

You can know someone socially but not really know them. It can take a lot of revealing intimate little moments to find out things like how they deal with unethical people in their social circle, and if they’re up front with you about who they are or if they lie and trickle-truth you. “I don’t want one but dude will probably surprise me” sounds an awful lot like your fiancé is into strippers and his friends know that. Otherwise they’d surprise him with an event he actually liked, right?

What a nice story. And it’s terrible that your family asks what you did. If you were raised by a family like that it’s not surprising that you were targeted by someone who would be inclined to place blame on themselves instead of his own behavior. His actions were never your fault, and your family should be in the business of supporting you!

With my ex it was the irregular hours. If they’re shooting you don’t see them for weeks, if they’re not shooting they’re drunk on the couch. And you have to go socialize with movie people. You run out of experiences in common and start to feel like you’re running a hotel/daycare really fast.

It could be a long time. Her lawyer has to file to end the conservatorship. A judge can’t end it without him filing to do so. Apparently until recently she didn’t even know that he could, in 13 years no one had bothered to mention that detail. And the lawyer is an employee of the conservatorship (aka her dad). She can’t fire him or hire her own lawyers. So if lawyer refuses to file to end it, she’s stuck until the law changes or her dad dies, is my understanding. Hopefully the court will agree t…

And, her dad’s flavor of patriarchy steered her to a scumbag like K-Fed. Probably because her dad chose her lawyer (who she has to pay for). Britney said today that she didn’t even know she could ask for the conservatorship to be revoked. How is it even possible her own lawyer didn’t tell her that? Or a judge, or anyone in the past 13 years? Her lawyer’s response to that statement was he couldn’t discuss it because of privacy and attorney-client privilege issues. She could still be stuck. You can get HPV from any kind of fluid mingling, even kissing. You always need a Pap smear, as often as possible. Just get all the tests your insurance will cover, because why not? You know they’ll cover as little as they can get away with, so if they’ll cover it you should definitely get it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/05/21 09:35 PM

Yes, HPV is sexually transmitted and can increase your risk of cancer, you can also get cervical cancers if you have never had sex at all. Everyone should take every test, it can save your life!

Self-defense classes are a good idea. You expect and prepare for the worst, square your shoulders and posture, look them in the eye and say “go away.” You let them know with your body language that if it becomes violent it will not be easy for them. You refuse to let them dominate your space. I couldn’t actually do this until I had kids.

And yeah, this is a red flag, this guy is too old for you, it’s only been a few months. Anger issues and not respecting sexual boundaries are complete dealbreakers each by themselves. List over. And, you don’t owe it to someone to tell them your standards, you just have them. Telling someone your standards encourages them to be fake, lie and be even more manipulative. And then eventually because the change was motivated by manipulating you, and not for themselves, they revert to their old habits as soon as they think they can get away with it. If a guy feels the need to say “not all men” ... he’s one of those men.

I guess on the upside most people in the thread agreed he was a huge a-hole (with the exception of some “hAvE yOu tRiED tALkING?”). And I’m certainly not pining for the pre-no-fault divorce days where she’d be absolutely stuck with him, even if people frowned at his behavior. But dollars to doughnuts she’s probably just as stuck, he convinced her to quit her job and have his babies so practically (financially) speaking at this point it’s nearly impossible to just go.

Imagine it was 60 years ago and this guy spent 5 hours every single night, and 12 on weekends, playing poker, or pool, or sitting around the bar. Everyone would assume he was a loser, their marriage was in serious trouble, and feel sorry for her (and of course blame her for not being good enough of a wife to hold his attention). Her or his dad might have a talk with him about how he has a family now and it’s time to act like it. If it kept on, she’d take the kids and move back home with her pare…

This makes me insanely angry. Imagine being barely recovered from childbirth, having a 3-year-old, and a husband who not only does nothing to help but sits around in the baby’s room and games during paternity leave. Yes I know I’m just repeating what she wrote, but I cannot even believe this.

Can you imagine if a woman acted like this?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy10/03/21 03:09 PM
23

Well, she does say he was always a lazy gaming addict. Though I have seen plenty of instances where a guy puts in the effort, but then changes once the woman is locked down and he can take her for granted. Plus once there’s a baby in the picture the housework ramps way up, so like folding one load of laundry or washing one sinkful of dishes a day does not cut it as sufficient help any more.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/03/21 04:22 PM

I really wish I had gone into family law for exactly this reason. Dumping my lazy gaming-addict spouse was the most incredible feeling I’ve ever had. Every day not having to cook, pick up his junk and watch him ignore his baby while I washed dishes has been like like a spa day.

Her son Moses doesn’t , and basically says she was a terrible mother. Buying a property with someone you aren’t married to is absolutely the stupidest thing anyone could ever do. Easy way to ruin your life financially until the day you die. This is the least of what could happen. Eg he quits paying, disappears to another country and she’s on the hook for the whole mortgage payment. Neighbor slips and falls and sues because he didn’t shovel the walk, ex declares bankruptcy, she owes the whole amount of the judgement. He doesn’t pay condo fees or utilities, she owes…

Yeah. My ex wouldn’t pick up anything. Would not take his plate to the kitchen after he ate. Socks and clothes just left on the floor. His new wife, who works full-time and has two toddlers, lays his clothes out for him every morning.

The worst part of this to me is that later she says he wants to buy a house and have kids. Buying property with someone you aren’t married to is the single stupidest thing you could ever do. It is a legal and financial nightmare. If you break up and move out you’re stuck paying the mortgage anyway. They take out a home equity loan, you’re on the hook for that too.

Especially when these men are like 30 years old! It’s so weird to me. I’m in my 40s though, so when I was growing up “adult” video games were not a concept. Video games were what parents bought their kids to keep them from getting underfoot on a rainy day.

Sure. I still like playing The Sims sometimes. Some games look pretty cool. But you know if a 30-year-old woman spent thousands on gaming systems and gamed eight hours a day unless it was her job people would think she was insane. /r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/12/20 06:42 PM

Yes. You see it so much. Over and over. Wife gives up years of her career to have kids, as soon as she’s trapped he starts being abusive, screwing around or being a general asshole, but husband controls the money, she can’t afford to hire a lawyer or the deposit on an apartment and a month’s expenses to leave. And then in the US there’s health insurance. Just for myself only as a self-employed person it was $900 a month (with a $500 deductible). So many women are trapped.

Oh totally. Talked to my ex many times, tried to get him go to therapy, we had a dead bedroom for a year and didn’t even sleep in the same bed and I slept on the couch because of his fucking snoring and refusing to wear his CPAPP, we wouldn’t talk for weeks... six months before I told him I was miserable and didn’t consider it any kind of marriage and that I couldn’t deal with it any more...he did nothing. And was utterly shocked when I told him it was over.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/12/20 03:26 AM

Totally. My ex agreed but dragged his feet. We could have saved on taxes for a year by filing jointly but he wouldn’t respond to anything, so I filed for divorce and paid for that, filed separately and paid for that... then he was shocked and horrified to get a five-figure tax bill, because for a decade he was used to me just taking care of everything. He’s now living in a dump with a gal a decade younger, good riddance.

That’s a good point, none of my friends (male or female) would ever do that! If it’s dinner they’ll show up on time or before keep me company while I cook. If it’s a social kind of drop in night I’ll throw out some cheese and crackers and it doesn’t matter. But I was not going to let a rack of lamb sit around and congeal. On the upside I was happy I found someone else who likes lamb, most people don’t, so I hadn’t had it in years, and I learned I don’t need someone else to split a rack with, wha…

Aw, thanks. I regret it sometimes because he was really really good in bed. But two hours late, WTF. He ran his own business and I do too, so I get it. And he did call when he was an hour late, to say he’d be another hour late. “I said around six, not exactly six!” Okay. But I had taken my dad to his first cancer treatment that day, and he knew that. And didn’t even ask about it. I ate an entire rack of lamb chops and locked the door.

I don’t plan to get married again either, but that “piece of paper” means a lot. There are more than 1,000 legal benefits of marriage, including methods for dividing assets. A real estate lawyer will charge you $300+ an hour to tell you the same thing, never ever ever buy property together with someone you aren’t married to. Whatever legal documents you make won’t mean much if they are on the deed and the mortgage.

How about all these people wanting to buy a house together without being married? Asked at least once a month on /r/legaladvice. “But I don’t beeellieeve in marriage! So how can I protect myself legally if I do it?” Good Lordy, if somebody wants you to buy a house with them but not marry them, run run run. Or buy it and make them your tenant. Or co-sign a loan for a Hummer with your meth-head cousin, because that’s a better investment.

Not disagreeing, but I feel awful for her. Hindsight 20/20, I’m sure she now would’ve wished she’d quit the job instead of dating the creep. As obsessed as he obviously was, he probably played like a devoted boyfriend. If there’s any lesson, maybe it’s 6 months is way too soon to move in together, but he probably would have found a way to make her life hell even if she dumped him after the first date.

Maybe it’s a generational thing? I don’t hear about this with older guys. And with female friends we usually take turns. Because sitting there splitting everything up is just petty and tedious. I only divide checks if it’s a big group, and then you have the waiter do it. The idea of sitting there while a dude with a little pencil is like, “now you had the iced coffee, and I had the ham sandwich... and your share of the tip is...” makes me cringe so hard.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/07/20 07:33 PM

Interestingly, my male friends from high school (who are married, gay or both, and we’re all in our 40s, so definitely no frisson there) always insist on paying the check. I’ll try to split it and they won’t let me, to the point where insisting would make a scene. I always try to make it up with good birthday/Christmas presents later.

Consultations with lawyers are free. Yes, you need one. Child support and alimony are a thing. You don’t know what your financial situation will be until you know. It doesn’t really matter a lot how great his lawyer is, because these things are done by formula with little wiggle room. Don’t try to force him to take her if he doesn’t want to, he’ll just do a crappy job. I’m in a similar situation with my ex. Even though we have a schedule, he’s taken about half the parenting time he’s supposed to…

Yeah, it’s a sucky situation for her. If the divorce was final she would have gotten her share of assets. Since she may have made more than he did over the course of the marriage, I hope she kept some assets in her own name.

I actually asked a guy that once —after chatting awhile he admitted he was married and looking for a third. He said “it’s too expensive and not the experience I’m looking for. Maybe this could allow you to explore new parts of yourself!” Oh lucky me. Blocked him immediately at that point. I could have been anyone. I could have roofied them and robbed them blind for all he knew about me. But to him the risk was worth whatever ego stroking he might get.

Communication only via text, email or lawyer. When you can’t avoid talking in person, do not take bait. Greyrock and/or change the subject even if it’s nonsensical. “You’re a bitch!” “I heard it’s supposed to rain Friday.” If you have to interact with the new girlfriend, act very happy for them. Dude was arrested within 48 hours for violating the protective order, and faces civil and criminal charges so I have to go back to court twice (and possibly a third time to have the order extended). Son fortunately goes to a private school with excellent security. I had to notify them, which was embarrassing but they were very nice. Wow, incredibly accurate. I went on two dates with a guy back in October who had 11/30 of these behaviors. I dropped him like a hot potato. He proceeded to stalk and threaten me (and my child, who thankfully he never even saw or met), I got a protective order that he violated immediately, and in the next month I have to go back to court two more times. If your spouse dies you don’t have to worry about keeping your joint property. If you break up, laws ensure you get a fair share of assets. You get just as/more taken for granted if you move in with someone without it.

And she was hard on him, pushing him to admit he was not considering my feelings at all or willing to compromise. I ended up walking out of a session and dumping him when she got him to show his ass. But it was not her place to say, “girl, he’s a selfish narcissist who treats you like shit, get out!” and that wouldn’t have been effective anyway.

Wow, what a horrible therapist! Congratulations to you for getting away from that awful man. I think therapists in general are not savvy when it comes to spotting and dealing with narcissists. I went to therapy with a narcissist, with a therapist who knew what was up (I found this out because narcissist died, and I went back to her and she told me). Even when they know what’s up, they can’t really say so, they are supposed to only ask leading questions to help you realize yourself what is going …

Ask them what job they have that can support a family by itself, with enough of a cushion for at least six months’ wages (or more) if they lose that job. Unless they’re a CEO or corporate lawyer, they can’t.

It used to steam my britches so much when I’d go out with my husband and daughter, and if he did almost anything (chase her down in a restaurant, replace a missing sock, carry her in a backpack) he’d get all kinds of compliments from strangers on what a great dad he was. Don’t date guys you have to “babysit” in social situations. After introductions he should be able to talk to strangers at a party without clinging to your side. Don’t date a guy who hangs out with his ex. Lunch once a year or checking in every so often, fine, being friendly, good, but talking a lot means you’re probably the placeholder until she wants him back. Never date a guy who criticizes your body. The only proper response to your naked body is lust and gratitude. And if he doesn’t have rab…

It is not a failure to want a solid spanking or be into certain kinks, IMO! I have come too far in this life to be shamed for what I like. I also like sex a lot. For me this makes the two-to-three months rule even more important. Because you really need to trust someone. To not kill you; or stalk you, or use your kinks as blackmail, or end up being some one-pump chump. Spending a couple of months on the front end to make sure you can trust someone is nothing compared to what could go wrong.
