For 2020, I developed a list of goals related to dating with some pretty specific actions based on my mis-steps from last year. Haven’t finished January yet but I’ve certainly been tested quite a few times already but have maintained my boundaries. In 17 days, I’ve:

Succinctly told the last guy I dated in 2019 that I not only am not interested in seeing him again, but that a friendship also didn’t make sense given our complete lack of common interests/social circle.

Stood as a witness in my friend’s divorce hearing and told the story, without shame, of how I went on a date with whom I didn’t initially realize was her POS (now stbx) husband. And in doing so, also confidently thwarted her attorney’s attempts to shame me for using Tinder because it’s “clearly a hookup site”. Fuck that noise.

Finally told a dude who’s been bugging me to fuck off.

Drove 40 minutes home in the rain at 1 am after a first date that went swimmingly well and never heard from the guy again. My guess is that he’s mad that I rebuffed his offer to spend the night but is too ashamed to say that’s why. Fuck that dude.

Went to my first singles’ Meetup after 2 years being on the app. Didn’t meet anyone of interest, so I left my “interest card” blank instead of writing down the best there was to offer. Instead, got asked for my number by a cute, successful guy 18 years my junior. Also got a message on the app from another attendee.

Said no for the first time to my 2+ year FWB whom I’ve finally accepted as a LVM unworthy of being a FWB. This, to me, is the biggest win of all. I used to literally cry over this man. Needless to say, he was shocked and rather put out.

I’ve been putting a lot of effort into developing a couple side hustles, and have been having a blast seeing the funds add upon my account. Less effort into OLD and more time meeting people IRL and proving to myself that I’m the catch my friends say I am!

Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will hold, though I hope it will be success based on sticking to the promises I’ve made to myself.
