Hey, I'm so glad you wrote here and shared your story. I'm terribly sorry for all you went through and I hope there are only good times for you from now onwards. There are two points I want to make.

First, please do not put too much hope into this subreddit. It is a great place and the sisterhood is real, but even here people can be on occasion nasty. So take it with a grain of salt. This also applies to the 'real world' people. I used to have a lot of friends, and I also had no friends, and now I would say I have one good friend that I can't fully rely on and one reliable friend that I, however, do not like that much. People are difficult creatures and some are supposed to stay in your life only for 5 minutes. I know the usual advice is to find a support group, but I think that might be a bit overrated. Certainly, come here and vent anytime you need to vent, but please do not think that just because you found a friend that 'gets you,' your problems will go away. You are much stronger than you give yourself a credit for and with time and some hiccups you'll get where you want to be.

Second, I'm concerned that you are stuck in a rented house with your ex for another 8 (!!!!) months. That's way too long! Is there really no way to get out of the lease? Can't you buy yourself out of the lease, or find a new roommate to take your place? I understand you may not have any choice, but if you do, go and pay whatever needs to be paid to get out of there. It is awfully unfair, but sometimes it is better to lose some money in exchange for a safe, peaceful home.

I’m so sorry you went through such difficult experiences. We are here for you and I’m so glad you realized your worth. There’s no shame in making mistakes, as long as they are lessons you can take wisdom from. I can tell you are relentless and have a big heart ♥️
