If he insists, don’t respond. He’ll get it and will likely follow up with some options. Or, just state your preference, something generic and unromantic that you really want to do (e.g. “Happy to try French cuisine, never had it” / “an art exhibit would be great”—hopefully he’d also take you out for food later).

He should be trying to impress you at this point. A message like this is usually not a good sign. He could try for 50/50. Or perhaps he’s just being considerate!

Not a red flag but let him know that you prefer dinner. If he says no, then you know what to do. 🥰

I don’t do other dates until they have heavily invested in me.

It might be time to do a daytime date that is a physical activity or that involves interacting with the world as a pair. You clearly connect well one on one. This date can help you see if you connect while interacting with your environment and tackling other challenges.

You could try a sport together, rock climbing, a hike, an art gallery, an arcade, walk around a cute part of town, etc.

I stress that you should do this in the daytime and without any alcohol. As it’s a third date you want to avoid any notions that you’d be going home with him after the date. 👌

I think its ok to express an interest in what you might like to do. You need to see how he behaves in different venues as well, such as physical activities or how he acts around the general public. Give him the illusion of choice, such as suggesting two different places but letting him plan around them.

I don't think it's a red flag. Honestly I don't think men should always be the ones to take initiatives. Of course, for the first date, it should be absolutely him but you're on the 3rd date already. If you like dinner dates, then offer a restaurant you would like to try. If you've been at an Italian and Chinese restaurants, offer him to go to that new Korean BBQ place where you can grill your own meat etc.

It's very important that you also get to do what you want to do. You shouldn't always do what *he* wants/offers. That's not a good dynamic you're establishing.
