The fear of female sexuality is the essence of patriarchy. Women are held responsible for men's deviancy to varying degrees in virtually all modern cultures, especially those with strong ties to fundamentalist Abrahamic religion. They might dress it up as "modesty" or whatever else they call it, but it's based in the fear of our sexual power, which we wield through nothing more than existing in our bodies. Reminder: Your body is yours and yours alone. Any thoughts or feelings it "inspires" in other people are neither your responsibility nor your problem.

I think this is why some women take back their power by dressing how ever they want. The only reason I used to not wear a bra was to not offend other people who might catch a glance and subsequently treat me differently. Otherwise, bras for me are uncomfortable and a waste of money.
Same goes for shaving, wearing concealer and just being "lady like" in general. Excuse me, I'm not "like a lady" I am a human being and I can act in what ever way makes me and the people I care about happy.

Damn girl wtf did you just say lol? That sounds so scholarly. I need a few moments for that to actually entirely make sense in my brain. We’re so conditioned to think about ourselves and other women in such a way that my mind literally intiendo pero no comprendo ... this has always been my favorite sentence in Spanish because I fully understand what it means, but literally don’t know how to say that phrase in English. (Saying this as someone whose first language is English).. I love the way you’ve phrased that.
