Watching Bridgerton makes me angry!

I saw it as somewhat satirical, in that we consider that attitudes in this era of women being ‘promiscuous’ as less worthy, or as marriage and babies being the ultimate feminine goal, as ridiculous and archaic yet these concepts are still being used against women now.

I also found it satirical that in those times people were getting married whilst barely knowing each other, as it was a political/social move, therefore being friends was an ideal basis to form your marriage on. Nowadays dating almost skips the friendship part, many men are so resistant to commitment, it becomes another transactional arrangement trading on ‘love’, affection, sex, and the emotional benefits of a relationship.

Don’t forget Shonda Rhimes loves to portray strong female protagonists who turn into Pickmes around men. I would take the female empowerment elements, and disregard the relationship themes. I did find it entertaining to watch overall, acknowledging that I wouldn’t agree with everything Shondaland portrayed.

I have enjoyed watching the show. Favorite part was the main character KOing a scrote. The big brother is a hypocrite. He knows exactly how bad his peers are so he refuses to let his sister see any of them. Duke needs therapy but this the regency. Eloise makes the best points in the show about how women are limited.

I definitely agree! I was also getting angry watching that show and I honestly think that’s what they were going for, to show how fucked up society was AND STILL IS.

What I don’t think the show intended was the fucked up toxic relationship between the main characters as you say. The one with daddy issues. Their relationship basically started out with them using each other. But she wasn’t honest with herself and her needs, as most pickmeshia aren’t, and fell for a LV man whose actions just don’t match his words.

Sad, but I did enjoy watching the show.
