What is actually his thought process here? I'm not a fucking piece of trash human so I can't get into his mind - is he saying it's her fault he was broke, shot, and jobless? Is he saying that since he now has money and a job that he thinks he deserves better? Does he think she's pathetic for staying with him since no way in hell would he have done the same? It's very sobering to know that, had I stayed with my abusive negative value ex who literally has nothing going for him in his life (criminal record, shitty part time job, no car, lives with his mom and stepdad, alcoholic, addicted to Xanax, entirely dependent on weed, etc.), there's no reason to think he wouldn't have eventually left me. Especially if I helped him level up.
