It’s very important to me. I take financial security extremely seriously. Someone who makes a stable income and doesn’t spend his money on dumb shit is important to me.

Doing work he enjoys and earning enough to cover all of his responsibilities and many of his wants. Healthy Savings. Growing Investments. Discretionary income to court me with dates, travel, gifts, etc.

I'm 25 (UK) and I would say for the most part I'm financially secure for my age - I have very minimum debt (I'm talking <£200), living independently (Paying my own rent, bills and expenses in a shared house with friends), owning and financing my own car, and I am steadily growing a couple of different savings pots (An emergency fund, general savings and a mortgage fund).

I think at this age I want my partner to be equal in terms of their financial independence and literacy and that, like me, they want to keep doing better financially and have a goal and ability to buy a house within the next 10 years.

I watched my mother and one failed marriage gets screwed over and had everything taken from her, and trapped by her second marriage before she passed away. The second time she was trapped by her concept of love but she owned nothing and broke down when she realized that she was losing me as well. she couldn't leave and even if she had found the courage to.

I've made plenty of stupid mistakes in my past with relationships, continue to do so, and I'm only recently trying to change since discovering this group. but the one thing that always stuck with me is to never be dependent on a man for housing or income. It's literally life or death and I will never feel comfortable having a man own any property over me. I refuse to be anybody's kept pet.

In short, what financial security means to me is the ability to get the F out when need be. I have struggled and bounced around with crappy roommate situations refusing to go back home to live under a man's roof who was abusive to me.The one thing my mother did do right when she passed away was to help me secure my own housing. I now own my home outright and have an inheritance as a cushion to fall back on. my career path is nothing that will make me rich but it is enough that I am capable of maintaining myself and paying my bills without relying on anybody else.

I’m in my early 40s, financially stable, and with a secure retirement fund already in place. Having someone who also is financially stable is crucial to me. I haven’t worked for decades and saved my money so that I can support a man during retirement or work longer since my retirement won’t support two people the way I expect to spend my retirement. I’m less concerned about his income now, but it would be an absolute dealbreaker for me for a man not to have a retirement plan.

Stable income. Has health/car/contents insurance. Is actively saving towards retirement beyond the mandatory contributions in my country. Has a healthy emergency fund. Has savings. Has (and sticks to) a budget. I also look favourably on owning property, though the ownership rates in my city are poor due to exorbitant pricing, and single people struggle to buy on their own.

Y'know, just the things I do myself.
