Why modern relationships fail?

This triggers me a bit. I want to like the logic. In fact I whole heartedly believed in that logic up until recently. I even put a similar quote on my vision board.

The problem is if you are codependent. You see this article and think you just didn’t try hard enough in your relationship. That you gave up too soon and it might have worked out if you just love and endured more. At least that is what I did.

I had to realize that I failed first by settling for a man that didn’t meet my standards. I didn’t have standards truthfully. I am a naturally empathetic person, but I now realize I have to be ruthless about who I let in to receive that empathy and effort, friend or otherwise.

Modern relationships fail because most modern men are shite and women have the choice to walk away. In the past, men were shite but women couldn't walk away so relationships didn't "fail."

They fail because one or both parties are not aware of whom they truly are and both parties refuse to compromise. The best relationships are formed around a friendship where there is honesty, trust and laughter. That friendship will carry you through the BULL SHIT times.
